This is a new PBL professional quality high output 1800 watt continuous fluorescent lighting kit complete with two softboxes, perfect for photography and video lighting. Lighting like this has until now only been available for use in big budget film or advertising work. The light is soft and diffused- it covers everything in a soft glow, eliminating hard shadows. These 6 bulb units produce an effective output of 900 watts each. Use one as your key or main light and the other as a fill light to balance your images.
Unlike traditional tungsten/halogen lighting, this lighting kit can be left on all day without heating up your studio. Bulb life is rated at 10,000 hours, and since these bulbs are daylight balanced (5100K), flicker-free, made for digital imaging use, you do not need special filters to get natural color from your subjects, whether it be people or products. To dim the light output, switches on the backs of the units allow you to turn off multiple bulbs at once, adjusting the light by thirds. This kit is compatible with all digital and D/V cameras. Perfect for portrait or product photography. Works great for chromakey.
*About Fluorescent Lighting
Fluorescent lamps are more efficient than incandescent light bulbs because a greater proportion of the power used is converted into useable light rather than heat, allowing the fluorescent lamp to run cooler. Thus a fluorescent lamp requiring 45 watts of power, for instance, produces as much light as a 150 watt incandescent light bulb, but with up to 90% less heat.
