This type of lighting works great for general portrait photography, product photography and interview or instructional video. Soft lighting illuminates the subject with a flattering wrap around light eliminating hard shadows and overpowering highlights. Take off the softbox and you get a hard light that casts hard shadows, great for cinematic effects.
